I have a combo amp that might need a new reverb tank. It has an issue with pings and pongs coming out of nowhere in the reverb circuit. I have confirmed that it is in the reverb circuit, and I've eliminated tubes as an issue. It went away for a long time after I removed and re-seated the reverb tank and cables. But now it's back.

I will first try new cables, but in the meantime I am considering going from a 16.75" long tank to a 9" tank. The current 16.75 is crammed in to the cabinet really tightly and I wonder whether that has something to do with it. Problem is, it seems like the standard 9" tanks have 10 ohm input and 2575 output, while my current tank is 8 ohm input and 2250 ohm output. If I do try a new, smaller tank, will the different ohmage create trouble? I seem to remember reading somewhere that it would.
