Topic: Which books to follow Scotty's? |

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a book that picks up where Dewitt Scott's Mel Bay books end off?
I've recently dug out my copies of his 'Deluxe Pedal Steel Guitar Method' and 'Anthology of Pedal Steel Guitar' as a refresher while I get back into playing more seriously after a long break, and have really enjoyed getting through them again, but realised I kind of just went my own way after using them originally to get started and have hit a plateau in my playing...
What would you say is the next step in similarly presented learning material?

| If you're looking to keep building repertoire, Jay Dee Maness has 2 DVD courses that cover his parts on the Desert Rose Band's records. You can buy them from steel guitars of north county, or Jay Dee's website. |

I highly recommend Paul Franklin's E9 Foundation course from Modern Music Masters. it's a 99$ subscription for a year and if you live a normal life (job, family, social life,) there is enough material to keep you busy for a year.
The videos are more like workshop lectures than simple how-to's and to have a lecturer of this quality on-demand is worth every cent!
I am transitioning from lap to pedal steel and bought Scotty's book, simply because I started on lap with Scoty's C6 book. But Franklin's course is modern and very focused on getting basic technique down.
I just played my first PSG gig with a set list that I'd previously played on lap. It was certainly not free of mistakes but I was confident that I had the basics down that I could pull off a gig.
I will start 2024 with a second Franklin course.
