Truthfully, sometimes you don’t want to mess with perfection, which is what Patsy’s recording is. But sometimes it’s impossible to resist.
I recorded the bass part first, which is really what inspired me to want to play the song. I played all the guitars as well—the only instrument not played by me is drums. I’m not a Country musician but I try to understand as much as I can about every style of music I listen to. All the parts were recorded in complete takes, no punching in.
I played my Clinesmith cast aluminum lap steel in C6 (6 string—I’ve removed the two bottom strings). I hope you get some enjoyment out of it.

Really great Mike, being outta your wheelhouse, but as good as you are you can play any style with command.
Love the new hat too, gives you the street cred!

Craig, that was Buddy Charleton’s hat.
