Hi there steel guitar forum community. Up for sale is my Remington Steelmaster 8 and Deluxe Case. I purchased it directly from the man himself, Herb Remington, from his shop (behind his house) on Jean Street, Houston, Texas, back in 2013. If you are interested, please feel free to make me a reasonable offer.

A little background information:
I've been playing 6 string guitar, piano and bass since I was 12 and I am 53 now. I became interested in steel guitar as a new challenge 10 years ago and set out to learn on this guitar. It still remains a challenge to me. I never had enough time to dedicate and learn it properly, so I'd like to find a good home for it.
I paid $1,100 cash 10 years ago and am asking $900 (plus shipping if you are not near Houston).
Thank you for looking!
Mark

Just a quick FYI, if you PM me about the Remington, please drop a note to the thread so that I can be sure to check the PM's. I've been checking the forum thread for new posts, but don't log in from my phone until after work.

I also meant to say that the bridge, nut and tuning machine mounting brackets are all stainless steel.

Hi Jim, it is 22 1/2" scale. Apparently, standard was 24 1/4" and the 22 1/2" was available by special order. I didn't know that scale length was an option when I purchased it from Herb 10 years ago, so I guess that makes me special ;0).

Hi Mark,

Are the legs chrome plated, or polished aluminum? Thanks

Hi Al,
I thought the legs were chrome, but I just tested them with a magnet, and the magnet did not stick. They must be either stainless steel or polished aluminum? There may be some folks on the forum who may know what Herb used. All I know is that they are shiny, have no pitting, and magnets don't stick.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark - I have one of Herb's D-8's and the legs are shiny, no pitting, corrosion,... - but a magnet will stick to them.

I did a quick check of the weight - and all four legs together come to about 6.7 lbs (if that helps)

Good luck with your sale !

(- these are nice steels - if I wasn't tapped out right now - I would definitely take it!)

Thanks JD! Based on your weights for legs that stick to a magnet, mine must be polished aluminum at 3.8 lbs.

Herb said that he hated the three-legged steel guitars because they were easy to tip over. His 4-leg design pretty much cured that problem.

Herb definitely had the right idea going with 4 legs.

The overall design of the Steelmasters is great. I really like my D-8 and feel lucky that I snagged it when I did.

These come up every now and then on the forum at around the same price, but usually come with a soft case - rarely do they include the deluxe hard case like this one !
