I had never tried to play this as an instrumental, only kickoff and take the break. Recorded at the Wesley House Memory Care Unit here in Gainesville, Texas. Completely unrehearsed before playing for the residents. Vince Gill sure had a huge hit with this song. And we all know what John Hughey did for the song as well.

I think Vince had such a huge hit with this song because of what John played. Vince had this to say about John’s work on this song. “It (the intro) makes the song recognizable by what happens before any words are ever sung. John played the best steel guitar solo ever”. Vince himself puts this song in the top 5 of his career.

You certainly did the song justice. Great job!

Thank you Larry. The song not only has great steel playing by John Hughey but the lyrics are great as well.
