Anyone use a plain G on string 5?
Perhaps a 24p?
Interested in lowering it a whole tone on pedal 4, G --> F, and the heavy plain string would travel a lot quicker than a wound 24/26 with a narrow core I think.

E9 but not completely irrelevant --

I lower 7th string F# > E . I'm sort of locked in to a wound string (I'm already committed to a wound 6th string). I use a .026. It max's out the changer but it gets there.
I'd say that yes, most certainly a plain string will have a much shorter throw. But I'm fairly skeptical of the tonal qualities of such a big plain string as a .024.
