Stopped at the local music store for some strings today and the place is full of old lap steels, consoles and a D-12 (I’d seen this before and posted).

A guy at the shop said it was the collection of a fellow from southern Oregon. Estimated 50 guitars in the mix.

The shop is called Fingerboard Extension. Just posting as a public service. I have no affiliation and don’t benefit or have any stake in any of this. https://fingerboardextension.com/

Here’s are a few pics. The ‘50s D-8 Stringmaster looked to be in great shape.

That 8-string Rick console looks like the Jerry Byrd model, although it's not listed as such.

D-12 MSA pedal steel for $1400. Good deal. I wonder if it comes with two 20-year olds to carry it! Smile

The Rickenbacker console in the first photo is cool looking.
Does anyone know - is it left handed or does the neck sit towards the back of the deck?

Re: console Rickenbacker...
22.5" scale is a JB (Jerry Byrd) model
25" scale is a CW (Country Western) model
Scale length is the only difference, parts and construction are identical.

I like the position of the tone & vol controls on the JB Model... easy access for the "boo-wah" effect, something that JB was a master of. These pics are not the guitar that's for sale at the store.

You're a lucky man, Erv. How does it sound, compared to your Fenders and other old steels?

Probably not. If you do club gigs, they wouldn't legally be allowed to enter in 21+ year states.

It looks like there's a Fender Champion with MOTS covering and a boxcar pickup. Hard to tell though.

There are some nice instruments there but it seems like "Back to the future" on the pricing. Most of these sell somewhat lower the times I've seen them.
The shop is not far from me, but I wouldn't waste the time since the posted prices are not even a good point to start negotiating in my opinion. Whoa! Shocked Laughing

I was thinking the same thing, Andy. The prices seem a bit high, but I've been out of the buy/sell loop for a while now.

Time will tell - but asking prices have gone up drastically in the last year or two.
If they don’t sell they may come down unless they don’t mind sitting on inventory a long time.
