Hello everyone. I recently got my Profex II out of moth balls and played through it. I had forgotten just how good they sound and how easy they are to use. Seem like nowadays the equipment is good but so very complicated to properly operate. I am looking for a one rack space power amp to use with the Profex. I used to have a DPC750. I loved the amp. The only thing I didn’t like was that it was so deep. It required a deeper than normal rack. So I am putting this out there to see what others may be using now and get some feedback on amps like this that you use, love and recommend.

Thanks I’m advance.

Bruce

I really like the Seymour Duncan Powerstage 700. It's small but comes with optional rack ears. Lots of clean stereo power. I think it's 2u though. I never mounted mine in a rack. Take a look here >>> https://www.seymourduncan.com/single-product/powerstage-700

When you have to "call for price" I figure it's too high for my pocket.

Scott,

Those were my thoughts exactly. “If you have to ask, you probably can’t afford it.” That is where I will leave that.

Quilter Tone Block 202 may fit in 1/2 rack space. They are sweet, powerful and compact. The Aviator Mach 3 head looks like might take up 2 spaces-but it’s two channels. https://www.quilterlabs.com/collections/frontpage?filter.v.price.gte=&filter.v.price.lte=&filter.p.product_type=Guitar+Amplifier

Bruce,
Years ago I made a lightweight amp / cabinet combo using a ART SLA 1 power amp. It was a single space and was about 9" deep and about 260 watts bridged @ 8ohms. I was very surprised at how good it sounded with my evans preamp, especially for the price range it`s in.

You can also be on the lookout for a Stewart world series single space Power amp. Those were very popular years back. Seem to remember John Hughey using those Stewart`s in his rack.

I really liked my Stewart (Stewart 1000 I think it was) but although it was 1u the depth required a bigger rack box.

I have a Tone Block 202. I plan to use it on my next gig out to see how it does with the Profex.

Look for a used Stewart World 1.2. You can find em in the $200-$300 range and they have alot of clean power.

So can anyone who has a Telonics 4200 power amp at least give us a ball park figure of cost? Or is everybody sworn to secrecy? 🤐

Over $500, under $1000? MSRP, something. You can PM me if posting a price is taboo. 🤑

I'm sort of looking around for a new rack stereo amp.
