Hi all

I recently restored a “barn find” Gibson Century 6 lap steel. It had no case and, wanting something special, I looked far and wide, finally settling on the one pictured. It’s actually a gun case and it cost about $200 with shipping. The cool thing is they are made in Lviv, Ukraine by a company run by a great guy called Ivan. I was a bit nervous paying the money on Etsy and then waiting for it to arrive from a war torn country. Visions of it getting lost, stolen or impounded went through my head.

But I tracked its progress on FedEx, first into Warsaw Poland, then Cologne, Germany, next to Memphis and finally here to Los Angeles. It took about 2 weeks to get here. It is beautifully made with the kind of craftsmanship that’s hard to find any where these days. Now all that said I wouldn’t really recommend it for this particular lap steel because the Century 6 is really deep and I had to do a lot of work to get it to fit. (Well I wasn’t gonna send it back after all that!!!)

Now, it’s not just a case: it’s a case with a story.

I posted the video of the restoration a few days ago - here it is again in case you missed it.

That's an elegant case! Could you provide a link to the company please?

Hi Paul

This is where I ordered it from
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1034658473/leather-rifle-case-gun-case-bag-suitcase

This is the company’s website

https://www.acropolis-case.com/en

Feel free to message me directly if you are thinking about ordering one and have questions. Also Ivan the guy who runs the company is very responsive.

Cheers
Aidan

That's sure a purty case, Aidan.

Nice work on the interior.
