What design is this? I hear these terms like push/pull, all-pull, pull -release and don't know which is which?

| The ball connectors do look like Maverick. The pull train style is known as single tree also ala Kline, ZB etc. |

Definitely looks like a Sho-Bud Maverick, pull-release. The end plates, legs etc. seem to qualify.

Its a maverick. By the single trees/double trees.
If you can find those plastic ball connectors, Get a few spares to stash away, If one breaks, The guitar is down till repaired.
The connector on the right in picture looks like it may have a crack in the top side of the ball loop at the metal threads already.

To be precise, it is a Mk2 Maverick with the brown shelf paper covering.
Not to be confused with the natural maple Mk1 model.

Here's what I have pieced together about the Sho-Bud Mavericks:
There are 3 major versions of the Maverick PSG:
Mk1 - Sho-Bud 6138 - 1969ish to 1979ish ???
This was the original version of the Maverick. All Mk1s came with 3 pedals. Some also had a single knee lever. Legs were non-adjustable.
Most of these were shipped in natural maple. They are known to exist in black and red.
Mk2 - Sho-Bud 6152 - 1982ish to ???
The Mk2 is easy to spot. It is covered in an ugly brown vinyl and it has a Fender Stringmaster-ish style recessed tuner pan & keys.
Much the same specs as the 6138. I have only seen photos of them. I am not sure if any came with a knee lever or not.
Mk3 Jackson Maverick HD
Jackson Steel Guitar Co. USA guitar is currently making a much, much, much improved Maverick, designated as a Maverick HD.

Tony... not sure your time line info is correct.... I bought a contact paper/fender style tuning pan/no neck Maverick in june 1976.. It was a present from my young bride for my 22nd birthday, and it was used with some wear on it at that time.. A guy had bought it new, learned on it, and then bought a new D10 Bud Pro something or the other... That neckless, contact paper maverick had to be at least a year or so old when I got it summer of 76..No way they started making them in 82, it was long before that.... bob

You are the first to give definitive info on the 6152 brown Maverick being sold in the mid 1970s!!!
From what you say then the into date for the 6152 would be 1974-1975ish.
I wonder if there was some overlap in 1974 where they were closing out the 6138 models and beginning to sell the 6152 models?
I wish I had kept the serial number of my first 6138 that I got out of pawn shop in Killeen, TX in late 1973/early 1974.
My current 6138 is set up as a C6 with pedals 5, 6, & 7. and I have pedal rods/adjustable legs to play it sitting or standing.
