I am sure this has been discussed many, many times. What is the most common gauges of strings used by most for C6 6 string lap steel. Some day i'll get it right in my brain.

It all depends on the scale length. On my 22.5" scale instruments, I've settled on:
.017
.020
.024p
.026w
.032
.038
Depending on the instrument, I may go a thousandth or two lighter or heavier. Some experimenting may be necessary. The Ernie Ball chart is an excellent resource:

As is John Ely's:

I'm currently trying to master behind-the-bar string bending, and finding it very difficult. Partly due to how I hold the (round) bar, but maybe due to how much strength it takes to pull the strings. Maybe I have heavy strings? What's the lightest gauge I could try to make it easier? Thanks.
