Anybody have the schematic of the tone control circuit if the TC Electronics BAM200? I want to tweak the corners to make it more steel-friendly. I don’t, but I’ll be interested in what you find. I use the Bam now and then out of the 3 amps I have and like it a lot.
Have you tried the company itself? |

I’ll try the company, but won’t hold up much hope for a response. I’m pretty happy with the way they sound, but cranking the treble cranks the “low treble” too much, and I’d like to move that corner from the 4.2kHz where it is to maybe 5 or 6kHz for sparkle. There are only 1 or 2 caps in that region of the board, and I’ll take it apart tomorrow (AFTER the gig tonight) to see which one it is. I’ll report back. _________________ Franklin D10 8&5, Excel D10 8&5. Both amazing guitars! ... no luck... The tone stuff happens more to the left and it wasn't the obvious cap I thought it was. I begged a service center for the info. _________________ Franklin D10 8&5, Excel D10 8&5. OK, I miraculously got the info and made the change. Moved the treble tone control peak from ~3.2kHz to ~6.5kHz, so its more of a presence control. It definitely sounded better. I might move it back a little lower, but it might be OK as-is
. The caps that were in there were 6nF, and I changed them to 2.2nF. C2 and C10. _________________ Franklin D10 8&5, Excel D10 8&5. Both amazing guitars! Glenn, that's great to know. Gotta love those surface mount components. Did you actually get a schematic? |

I got a snippet of the tone control sschematic from a source that must remain unnamed... _________________ Franklin D10 8&5, Excel D10 8&5. Both amazing guitars! Ok Glenn, I can understand that. Keep us informed of your changes and results. Those pictures are a big help. |

Glen, are you liking it better with the cap change and was it worth it? |

What do you guys use for a speaker with your BAM200?
Curious, as I just ordered one to use with my PJB C2 cab. The appeal of an amp about the size of a ham sandwich sitting atop a speaker cab about the size of a lunchbox has obvious appeal. I bought them for recording bass guitar, but if they sound okay for steel, that would indeed be a bonus. |

Yeah, I like the cap change. The treble freq was probably about right for bass, but it was a hi mid honk boost on steel. I moved it up to about 6k, and now it cranks the glassy highs. Depends what speaker I use. My BW1501 in an open back doesn’t need any high boost, but I high boost and mid cut a little when I use my TT12 in a closed back
The treble is now up there in the “tone suck” region. If you cut the treble, it sounds like your pickup is driving a 20 ft cable. Boosting it let’s you hear the high harmonics of the high strings interact with each other _________________ Franklin D10 8&5, Excel D10 8&5. Both amazing guitars!
