OK, so I have a Milkman Dairy Air amp head that currently has 5881 tubes. I can change these to 6V6 tubes. What mfg. 6V6 tube would you recommend. I had Deluxe amp a while back but never re-tubed it.

This amp runs on 6L6 @ 40 watts, 5881 @ 30 watts and 6V6 @ 20 watts. Very cool
vibe.

Probably should get Tim's recommendation. I don't really have anything to compare, but Ken Fox replaced the old microphonic Silvertones.....recommended and installed a pair of JJ brand 6V6 tubes in my Silvertone 1482 several yrs. back. Still going strong.

Thanks Jerry, on a hunch, I started going through my tube stash that consists of many 6L6, EL84 and EL-34 and I found a matched pair of Tungsol 6V6. I do not remember when or I got these from but a welcome surprise.

I just wanted to try the 6V6 in this amp to see how it compares to the 5881 tubes. This amp is sweet and very light to carry. I'll post how I like the 6V6 tubes as I have a gig Saturday.

Cool. Tung-Sols should be just fine. Interested to hear how they compare to the existing model tubes.

Len,

I've been really impressed with JJ's. In as much as you're looking at several choices and have received a couple recommendations on brands I'm going to suggest you touch bases with the folks at EuroTUbes up in the NW USA. These guys work with JJ directly and know their tube stuff inside out. I've used their tube pairings in my 6G6 Blonde Fender Bassman, My Vox AC10C1X, and a squirrelly little Fender Champ 12 that now sounds more like a Blues Jr. Very very knowledgable folks in my opinion but check them out for yourself.
