Thinking about adding an ironing board to the gig pile - tired of stooping over the steel during set-up and breakdown.

| Ha! That'll work. I use my wife's keyboard stand for that very reason. That's what that picture reminded me of. Her Korg goes on last, after I set up,and comes off first. Definitely easier on the knees! |

Greg, Frank might think otherwise about that sandwich you suggested.
My sister's family was at a restaurant giving their orders to the waitress.
Derek, age 4, listened as each of his two older sisters ordered a grilled cheese.
Derek told the waitress he wanted a "boy cheese."
The chef came out of the kitchen to serve it. |

I carry an iron with me to gigs. I place a towel on my guitar and use the iron to iron people's clothes during breaks for extra money. 🤣

I already bring enough junk to gigs.

The days are long gone when I could bend down and set up a steel as the case lay on the floor. My old knees wouldn't go the distance!
I always find a nearby table. I'd sooner carry the guitar twenty yards to my spot on stage than attempt the set-up bent double.

I always set my steel on top of my seat (with the back folded down). It’s a bit of a balancing act but it becomes second nature. Works great for me!

Frank. Sort of an inside joke, but it's too bad our buddy Ironman is not still around to see this. Right Jerry?
I used to carry a pair of TubeWorks speakers for my rig. Made a good platform for building the guitar. But in later years, my stature and shoulders won't let me lift the D10 high enough to clear all that, so it's back to the floor for me.
Sometimes, the stage riser, if there's one there, works good depending on the height. |

When I had the regular Thomas case I, too, would use my seat as a rest.
Now, I use the SKG wheeled case and that folds out flat when opened. It won't stay put on my seat any more.

Just by happenstance I started laying my steel case down on my 4-wheeler to set it up. Gets it just that little bit above the floor and my back appreciates it.In combination with using a keyboard gig bag as a DIY split case I'm good to go.

Hi Frank: I use my pak-a-seat with the back folded down too, and yes it is a balancing act, but works. I think a better suggestion would be to just put strings on the ironing board.

I always set my steel case on top of my amp, it's the perfect height and easier on my back :-}

Our soundman got this cafeteria tray stand at a flea market cheap. It's super light weight. He was putting mic/cable cases on it while packing/unpacking. I found another use for it during the gig. Works great for pedal board(s). Probably would work for steel cases.

My vintage Ace pack seat and Steelaire are almost the exact same height. I set the seat up a foot or so from the amp, and the case straddles across them perfectly. Tear-down is just the reverse, I get everything packed away except the guitar, move the amp up next to the seat again, and then put the case back across the amp/seat for disassembly. No WAY I could get down on the floor these days....
