Just wondering if any of you might have some of the old Sho Bud strings (singles or sets, looking for wound gauges in particular) sitting around gathering dust? Please let me know if so!
Thanks,

I have some. I will have to dig around, but they are yours. Just pay the postage.
Thanx,
Jim
PS - I bought them at Herb Remington's store in Houston. _________________ Jim Bates, Alvin, Texas

Thanks for your very kind offer, Jim, I'm happy to pay for the ride and I'd also be happy to make a donation to the SGF, too. (:
Just let me know when you have a moment anytime and I'll send along the postage. If there's anything I can include to return the favor, please just let me know, too.
Best wishes,

Larry - I have four single strings: one .022 plain, two .022 wound, and one .030 wound. They are in the original paper envelopes, labelled "Genuine Sho-Bud...Distributed exclusively by Gretsch." Email or PM me your address if interested, and I'll send them to you. I'll cover the postage if you make a forum donation. |

Hi Larry,
I have three you are welcome to. I believe they are from the 1960s. They are all wound: .022W, .026, and .030. These are in paper sleeves, apparently pre-Gretsch (at least no mention of Gretsch). They are still in the original pack with the yellowish paper insert that says "Strings With The Nashville Sound," Set No. 290, E 9th Chromatic Nickel, with a photo of a fingertip D-10. Condition is worn but intact, with some light staining along the bottom edtge. These are from a big box of Jerry Roller's strings that I bought from his son Terry. Happy to send gratis, especially if you are donating to the forum.

Hi Bruce - thanks for you generous offer as well. Yes, please send them along, I'll email you my address and add to the donation I'm making to the SGF. Jim has already mailed his singles, looking forward to putting these to good use. I find they work very well on a couple of particular old instruments I own and play.
Muchly appreciated! (:

Larry,
Still haven't found them. I did throw out some I bought from Herb, because they not uniform up the neck. When played open, were o.k., but were either a half of fret below or above when you played them on 12th fret. Pretty sloppy windings!!
If you do find some Sho-Bud wound strings, check them out!!
Thanx,
