I recently acquired an 8 string Adams reso from a Forum Member.

Now that I have the guitar in hand, there are a couple of changes that I want to make regarding the setup.

I contacted Jim Adams by phone several times and spent a good hour or so asking his opinion of the changes I propose.

Jim could not have been more gracious with his time, knowledge and experience. In fact, even though he was a bit under the weather, he crafted the parts we discussed and had them in the mail for delivery to me next week.

Well into his eighth decade, Jim's voice, energy and wit is that of someone half his age - and he made a honker of an 8 string reso!

Nice to know people like this.

Great post Michael. Jim has accommodated every experiment and answered all the questions I’ve had over the years. The last time I was there I had to have one of the guitars he let me play. After agreeing to sell it I realized it was his personal axe. I told him I’d pick a different guitar, but he insisted I take his. I wish I lived closer so I could visit more. Good luck with your 8-string!

Hi Marty...nice to hear from you again.

By now you've figured out that the guitar being discussed is one you commissioned and spec'd.

Once Jim learned it was yours he volunteered "...Marty has a million ideas he wants to try. He's always kept me on my toes."

Life is sure circular.

I'm looking forward to using this guitar as an alternative to steel. As I said in an earlier post, "...it's a honker!"
