Thanks all. As far as the tuning, I'm playing a 7-string Rick that was tuned to A6. The melody did not lay out comfortably on that tuning so I started twisting the tuners until I came up with something that worked smooth and easy for this particular song. Smile

I do that a lot... experiment by ear until I find something that works well for a certain song. In this case it ended up being D6. I tuned string 7 to G# to play the low part of the song, but that would not be a part of D6. It does produce a partial E9 chord (no root) on the bottom 4 strings, which might be useful.

Yes, she had a great voice. There’s an old black-and-white clip of her singing LIVE on the Ed Sullivan show, on Youtube. Pitch perfect and a very strong voice.

I was 13 when this song came out and I didn’t like it much at the time. Fast forward 50+ years and my band is playing the song, and I discover that it’s a fun song to play and audiences respond to it, especially the ladies!
