Fantastic! I like how you adapted your tuning to fit the song.

Thanks all. As far as the tuning, I'm playing a 7-string Rick that was tuned to A6. The melody did not lay out comfortably on that tuning so I started twisting the tuners until I came up with something that worked smooth and easy for this particular song. Smile I do that a lot... experiment by ear until I find something that works well for a certain song. In this case it ended up being D6. I tuned string 7 to G# to play the low part of the song, but that would not be a part of D6. It does produce a partial E9 chord (no root) on the bottom 4 strings, which might be useful.

Nicely done, Doug!! That tune has some cool stuff going on, between the minor to major shifts, and the half tone key changes. Always been one of my faves. Thanks for that.

Leslie Gore was 17 when that song was released. What a voice.

Yes, she had a great voice. There’s an old black-and-white clip of her singing LIVE on the Ed Sullivan show, on Youtube. Pitch perfect and a very strong voice.

Leslie Gore was an excellent singer in her prime. Lulu was even better, IMHO, and still singing well in the 2000s. But I digress, a very creative choice of tune and tuning, Doug.

I was 13 when this song came out and I didn’t like it much at the time. Fast forward 50+ years and my band is playing the song, and I discover that it’s a fun song to play and audiences respond to it, especially the ladies!
