I want to personally thank Albert & Debbie Talley and the entire TSGA staff for allowing Linda and I to once again be a part of this great show. This was our 10th year working as emcee and at the Benevolent Fund Booth.
I also want to thank Mike Siler and Jeff Williams for their outstanding help as co-emcees. I could not do it without them (because they are young, hehe).
Sadly, Randy Beavers had to cancel and I was fortunate to take one of his spots on Saturday night, wedged between two of my close friends and hero's, Doug Jernigan and Jay Dee Maness. whew!
I actually played the best I have ever played, probably because of such a great staff band behind me, Ronnie Ray, Grace Partridge, Bill Cunningham, Kerry Moore and the drummer for Sarah Jory (I am sorry I don't remember his name at the moment). They kicked me in the butt and made me play.
Also, after I finished, Jay Dee came on stage and told me that he also thought it was the best I ever played and that I had the best "F********" tone he had ever heard.
For those that are interested, I was playing my 1993 Emmons LeGrande with 108N humbucking pickups, OMNI volume pedal, Baby Bloomer, George L's cables and Peavey NV112 amp. NO effects except the internal spring reverb.
So that made me happy for sure and then I got my first ever standing ovation. WOW! What a great weekend.
Plus I got to meet and talk backstage with the great Justin Trevino.
And to add more to the weekend, we stopped and spent a few hours with Buck & Mitzi Grantham.
The TSGA show is the best run show I have ever been involved with (except the GA Show, hehe).
Make your plans to attend in 2024 for sure.
