Premier Nashville bassist Michael Rhodes has passed away.

This is a shock; he can't have been very old.

RIP, Mr. Rhodes.

Wow. What a horrible week. Have seen him with a varied cast of character in various Nashville area venues over a lot of years. And look at the list of recording credits on his wikipedia page - a who's who of great people. Great musician, very sad. RIP Michael.

Oh my, two of my favorite musicians/artists passed on the same day: David Lindley and Michael Rhodes.

Michael was, IMO one of the best session bass players. I loved his work with Ashley Cleveland. Here he is joining Ashley and her husband, ace session guitarist, Kenny Greenberg:

R.I.P. Michael

Keep on picking'!

Another sudden and unexpected passing. Michael was indeed premier. We enjoyed seeing him with the Players and talking with him even if it was brief. He was such an incredible Musician / Bass player, it was more like the BASS found him. RIP Michael.

Michael was a good friend since the late ‘80’s and my first call on tons of sessions over the years. Everyone on a session with Michael just played better due to the depth of his amazing groove and also the depth of his personality. Miss him madly.
