Created by the late Tom Pettingill based on our discussions about creating a long scale version of a 1938 Recording King lap steel. Here are Tom’s specs:
24 inch scale
Black Limba/Korina body and neck
Bookmatched Quilt Maple top and head plate. (Full plate, not a thin veneer.)
Cocobolo rosewood fretboard/bridge/trim
Hand dyed Cherry Burst
Nitro Lacquer finish
Clinesmith blade pickup
The guitar is in excellent condition, with no marks or scratches. The electronics work fine. No case, but will be packed with great care.
Asking $1,500 plus shipping.
And here’s the 1938 Recording King AB 104 (Roy Smeck model):

I remember the pictures of this guitar. I believe that this is my favorite of the guitars that Tom made. |
