I recently read specs and reviews on several speakers and zero'd in on the Wheelhouse 15" 8 ohm. I ordered two of them to combine with a Revelation and Crown 1002 rack gear. I was very much impressed with the results.
Wheelhouse 15:
Very nice frequency curve. 101.5db sensitivity.
60hz - 3.5hz range.
200w
8 ohm.
8.2 lbs Neo magnet.
Very tight lows, pronounced mids and no shrill peaking highs. Very smooth overall sound.
Likely perfect for the Peavey steel amps rated for 4 ohm and add another 15" cabinet.
I've been playing through a pair of Eminence 12c steel speakers and getting a great tone with a slightly different setting on the Rev. Comparing the 12c vs Wheelhouse, the Wheelhouse has cleaner mids, a little more bottom end and less harshness high end. But, as I said, I can tweak the Rev to accomodate the 12 or 15. However, the Wheelhouse 15 is a good replacement for the 1501 tone for tone and much lighter weight. _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |
