I was hoping someone could help me and tell me what you use to tighten the nut on a 1/4 jack on a Goodrich volume pedal. I don’t have a wrench or a socket that will fit, and the hammer and screwdriver method is not my preference.

Wrench size 1/2 in. You'll need a thin wall socket. Best bit is a 1/4 drive set with a 6 point socket as normal 3/8 drive sockets are too fat to fit the recess.

Perhaps a skinny 1/2 nut driver.

What Jerry says (thin-wall socket) is what I use, too. But in a pinch, you can also make do with a pair of needle-nose pliers, either straight or the 90-degree ones. Winking

I found an older socket I didn’t care about and ground it thinner on the bench grinder.
