Just ordered a split case with wheels from Kevin Hatton for my sho-bud. Which leaves me with the question of what to do with the old case. Is there any value to an old case or just toss it?

If it's still functional, I'm sure someone will want it. I hate to throw away things that still work. (Some could call me a hoarder Laughing )

Would it fit a Carter Starter? I know a new steel player in western MA that needs a case.

Is your case for a Sho-Bud D10? I might be interest as my original is trashed and I need something better.

Thanks,

Just as for vintage guitars - yes, there is value in the old case, especially if it's the original case and it's in good shape. Some cases are more valuable than others. For example, an old Woody Woodell fiberboard case could be quite valuable. I've been hunting for a replacement for my Franklin WW FB case for several years. I would pay pretty good money for a good one.

Especially pedal steel players are not, as a group, as concerned about absolute originality of vintage pedal steels the way vintage guitar/amp owners are concerned about absolute originality. I mean, people will pay many hundreds, and in some cases, thousands of dollars for a nice vintage case for some more desirable makes and models. But I really think having a truly original pedal steel case in reasonably good shape adds to the value.

I definitely can't see any reason to throw it in the dumpster unless it's really trashed.

I think some Sho-Buds were longer than most psgs, meaning not a lot of other types of cases would fit. Save it, sell it, pass it on.
