Howdy folks

This guy has the cleanest chime harmonics I've ever heard,,,,what is his technique? Can anyone provide a sample?

Thanks!

Thank you for the additional footage!

From this view it looks as though he's got his thumb pick at the position for the chime, then his first finger does an upstroke to hit the string?

This is at the end of his break on Sittin' On Top of the World

And geez,,,how he does this without looking down at the neck just amazes me!

And he plays with one of those flat, metal, comb-like bars!

Does anyone use those anymore?

You can slow the video down by clicking on the settings tab, then on speed and .5 and you can see how he does it much better. It looks to me like he has his pick in position, then touches his index finger at the right fret for the chime, then picks the string and removes his finger at the same time.

On another note, it sounds like some boo-wha. Do you think he’s using a tone pedal? I don’t think he’s using the tone knob.

Oh yeah, watch carefully you'll see him on the tone knob. This is excellent video. Using the playback speed in YouTube is an excellent tip.

That's Bobby Koefer.
He didn't wear fingerpicks from what I can tell. I think helps the kind of chiming he's doing. Just touching the string with his index and picking with his thumb.
