Hey guys & gals. I started out on a single E9 Derby 25 years ago and was taught by Jeff Newman prior to his unfortunate death. I progressed pretty good, but in 2007 I had major back surgery, specifically a lower lumbar fusion which left my feet and lower legs without feeling. After recovery, I realized that my playing days were over so I sold my Derby to a fellow up north. Now 15 years later and retired, I'm wondering if there is such a thing as a 10 string lap steel in E9? I believe I can still manipulate the volume pedal, because I drive my car, even though I don't feel the pedal. I'm starting to yearn to get back into it, but don't believe I could sit on a stool for long or manipulate the three pedals. Regarding knee levers, I envision the two right levers to be rigid to provide scotching for the two left levers. Does such an instrument exist? Can it be built? Thanks in advance for your replies. |
