Rare 50s Dano lap steel, original pickup works and sounds great.

Some wear and tear but overall pretty good shape.

Looking for $800 obo

Wow! Never seen one of these. When I saw the thread title, I thought "I wonder if it has a lipstick pickup?"

Sure enough, it does. What a cool little steel.

Good Evening Justin.

If it would not be any trouble for you, could you post the scale length of this Dano lap steel? (From the front edge of the bridge block facing the fretboard ....to the rear edge of the neck nut facing the fretboard). I used to know but just can't find it in my OLD gray matter Rolling Eyes .

Thank You and Very Best Wishes,

Denny, it's exactly 23" - just like Nat Daniels to have a scale length in-between the Big Names and their 22.5" and 24" scale instruments.

Cheers,
LC

Thank You, Larry.

I apologize for not thanking you until now. I've been quite ill with cancer, and after effects of COVID (aka 'Long Covid', 'Longhaul Covid', and more properly / accurately 'Longhaul COVID Recovery'. But I'm glad I could stumble back here and Thank You.

Wow! These are pretty rare. $800 is probably a really good deal. Not a pretty lap, but I bet it sounds cool!

Good luck w/ the sale!

Hi Denny:

Sorry to hear of your health challenges, but I'm glad to see you're back and also to receive your thanks as well, best wishes and here's to a healthy recovery. (:

The Danelectro is a lot of fun to play, a unique tone, and it looks like it was made in shop class, too. Easily the lightest steel I've played, very resonant. A quirky if not charming piece of the history of the instrument. Nat Daniels was a genius in a lot of ways...

Mahalo!
