Any good suggestion on cleaning an aluminum neck, in particular on the top (jeweled) surface at the front of the pickup. I previously owned a Williams guitar that had an aluminum neck, when I went to clean it, it goes back so long I'm not sure what I used but it took out the jeweled (textured) finish and messed it up. I remember the Williams did not have a real deep jeweled finish as compared to the Mullen that I now own that has a deeper texture. But I don't want to make the same mistake again. Maybe a mild soap? I guess I could question Mike Mantey at Mullen but just wondering what others may do.
Thanks all!

I use Formula 409 and a toothbrush on the rough surfaces. Sometimes it takes several applications but it usually turns out pretty good. I use Mother's Mag Polish on the polished surfaces unless they need to be buffed out again.

I use 80 grit and a 3inch air powered pistol D.A. Works perfectly. I just did my pedal bar on my LL2. Looks better with a jeweled texture. Try some CLR and toothbrush. Keep in mind that electric sanders have a smaller orbital circle and will make a finer appearance. Smile

Lacquer thinner on a paper towel. Just don't get it on the fret board.
