We lost one of the best awhile back. I'm a huge fan of his country music. I've been wanting to record one of his songs, but just now found the time to do it. I've been working on this one for a few weeks. It takes a lot of time to do these, or maybe I'm just slow.😀 He had a lot of good country songs, but I rarely hear anyone doing them. When I was with Del McCoury he would do one ocassionally. I remember hearing Del talk about meeting Jerry Lee in the Baltimore area back in the 60's or 70's. RIP Jerry Lee Lewis

Great song Rick. Ive been working on creating songs and playing the different lead parts..I wanted to ask your advice on recording country fiddle like you have in some of your videos. I'm going through a peavey nashville 400 into my interface and daw but am wondering if I should be using a mic instead. Any pointers for your setup chain, effects, interfaces, etc. Thanks

Keenan,

Glad you enjoy my music. The fiddle is recorded with a mic. When I play shows with bluegrass bands, I use a mic. Country bands I play fiddle through an amp, and if it's a big gig, they often DI or mic the amp. I just let the sound guys handle it.

I use a lot of different techniques in the studio. It changes according to the song and what I'm able to get to work at the time. I use a lot of resources. Feel free to email me with specific questions. I'm learning as I go also.

Jerry Lee would be proud! Superb stuff Rick!I saw that Keenan was interested in the effects chain,I would also mention the Big Gulp cup on the console. Very important. You nailed it on this one!

Very good Rick. I'm a Jerry Lee fan of his country stuff and I performed quite a bit of it in the 70s. His piano technique was amazing and it fit so well with his performance.
