Craig Holden was Bobby Bowman's protege, and he lives in Austin. He knows his stuff and does great work.

Memphislim here on the forum lives very near Austin, gigs there weekly and is an excellent steel mechanic. I know he takes in repair work from time to time.

Earning a multi-six-figure income (a requirement for living in Austin with any kind of lifestyle) allows you to have many perks. Those musicians who purchased their homes before 1990 breathe easier and now only have to worry about how to pay their exorbitant property taxes. Just sayin'... Laughing

If it were me, I would approach Johnny Cox. He worked for MSA, and has forgotten more pedal steel than most people will ever learn…just sayin!

And then the skyrocketing increases in premiums for homeowners' insurance.

I lived 30 miles northwest of Austin in Williamson county and the taxes and home prices were outrageous even that far out. I couldn't wait to get out of that mess so I retired 4 1/2 years ago and bought a ranch in northeast Texas and LOVE it. I did make some good money in the Austin area though, but not in the music business.
