Hey folks, I'm pretty new to pedal steel and I'm coming to you masters for help. I'm having some issues tuning the knee levers (E to Eb, and E to F just on the 4th string, specifically) on a pull-release Jackson Maverick HD. Tuning the open E is easy. Then, I found the E to F lever was flat, so I used the nylon tuner to tune it up. Easy enough. But when I do that, it restricts the movement going down, so I can't tune the E to Eb lever at all. The C pedal moves the E string just fine. I'm no aerospace engineer, so fixing this issue is a bit beyond me. Is there a chance I could grab someone on a Zoom/Facetime call to help diagnose this issue? I'll pay ya for your time. Thanks in advanced!

I've seen and tried everything in that video to no avail. Haven't changed the strings or done anything different. This issue arose out of no where after unpacking from a gig.

The stop screw on the knee lever that raise E's to F might have come out of adjustment. In the video between 06:49 - 07:20 and 09:37 - 10:20 make sure this matches up with how your guitar is setup.

Make sure those 10 fingers are aligned to begin with !!!

Video 09:06 - 09:30 is important to have the lowering working correctly

Video 09:37 - 10:20 could cause the issue you are describing if not adjusted as in the video.

With E's lowered to Eb there should be no contact with raise/lower finger and the two nylon tuners that adjust the raise E's to F or E(4th string)

On majority of E9 necks, the F note is usually tuned quite "flat" tho in order for it to sound like a "pure" 3rd in relation to a C#
The C# note(raise on strings 10 and 5) on the E9 neck will also usuallly be tuned slightly flat to sound like a "pure" 3rd in relation to an A note
If you try tune the F note in tune with a piano F note or to a tuner with Equal temperament then there might not be enough nylon tuner slack left to allow for a full E-Eb lower. The set screw near the lever is the one that has to be adjusted then.

The mechanics does not require rocket science to understand but one might have to think it through a couple times in order to understand how those stop screws are ment to be working and how they affect eachother.

Best of luck getting the guitar setup so it works like a charm. Dont give up on the guitar if it feels a little difficult in the beginning. The E9 is a lot of fun to play.
