I hadn't owned a P/P for a few years so I decided to get another one and this one came up a few months ago. It had belonged to Jerry Roller a while back and had had some restoration back then. It had a nice finish on it but it needed a bit of buffing, and the metal parts had also kind of dulled, so I tore it totally down, I had to change the pedals from Emmons to Day and install my oddbal knee lever setup, and it is easier to start from scratch.
The old black flocking was pretty scraggly, so I scraped and sanded all of the old stuff off and plugged the holes I wasn't going to use, then put new red flocking on it. Some of the shaft brackets were kind of crudely made and were mis-matched, and there was some wear on various parts, so I made a lot of new parts so everything would match. I gave the changers and all of the other parts a good cleaning and started putting it back together.
I buffed all of the metal parts, including the tuning keys, legs, screw heads, and pedal rods, I made and added a second RKL that I use on my setup, then put everything back together. I'm still making parts to add a couple more knee levers on the C6th neck which I'll add sometime in the future.
The pickups are a little lighter than I like, but I was able to EQ my amp to compensate somewhat. It plays and sounds as good an any other P/P I've owned and I'm really happy with it.
Here's a couple of songs so you can see how it sounds. Please overlook the clinkers, I play very little these days and sometimes the fingers just don't work right.

Another gorgeous piece added to your stable. I Just Called is one of my instrumentals too. I enjoyed your take on it and may steal some of your ideas. π |
