I have a cheapo SX 8 string lap steel (with legs) that really doesn't sound bad ... but the pickup is a bit "sterile". Any recommendations on a replacement pickup with some warmth but not distorted. (In a perfect world everyone would have a lap king steel, but alas, its not a perfect world!! )
This cheapo is lightweight and sounds decent enough as a grab and go guitar to jam with. Here is a pick of what it looks like.

Thanks

Talk to Jerry Sentell at https://www.sentellpickups.net/
He does great work. Rewinds, repairs, and even did a special design for me creating a Humbucker that fit into a 1957 Franz single coil case. Can't say enough good about him and his work. His prices are very fair and his turn around is fast. _________________ Melbert 8, Remington S8, Silk 6 string, Rick B6, Tremblay 6 lap steel, Marlen S-10 4&4, Prestige Guild M75 and Artist Award, Benedetto Bravo, Epiphone Century Electar (the real one) and a bunch of old lap steels.... mostly Ricks and Magnatones' |
