Hi all I could use advice in trying to simplify my setup for a cleaner stage and reduce the number of cables and power plugs. I currently send the Milkman the Amp XLR output to a snake and receive an IEM monitor mix from our board. This requires two 50 ft XLRs. I have one or two effects to be powered from pedalboard power, Telonics volume pedal, and usually charge my tuner as well.
It's a messy setup right now and requires my own power strip. A bandmate suggested using my Sarno V8 rack that could be stored remotely in our mixer case and run a long instrument cable to that and receive power and IEM XLR back through a loom. I was thinking this might work since the volume pedal acts as a buffer. Any advice is appreciated thanks.

So your preamp would be offstage? Doesn't really sound that much simpler AND it means you can't adjust the amp on stage. Also I would think long instrument cables would be prone to problems in some venues, probably better off with the long XLRs.
What about a rack with your sarno or milkman, your IEM box, a drawer with your pedals, and a furman that powers everything and gives you some lighting? Then you just have one power cord, the 2 xlrs coming out of the rack and you have to run power to the hilton. |

| What Chris said. Also, while you can run the balanced line level signal via XLR lines for hundreds of feet without signal degradation, the limit for high impedance unbalanced guitar cords is about 20-25 feet max before noise and loss of frequency response becomes an issue. |

So you are NOT using the Milkman as an amplifier, only as a preamp/DI?
I use a custom snake to connect my pedalboard/DI to my amp and run 9V and 12V back to the board so I don't need a power strip and mains at the board.
You could use a single snake for DI out IEM back and Pedalboard power
But this would not work for the Milkman which has higher power requirements
I use a DSM HUMBOLT simplifier amp simulation/DI (There is a cheaper clone on Aliexpress)

That's correct I am using the Milkman solely as a preamp/DI. The Simplifier pedal looks nice especially since it can be powered on pedal power.
Thanks for the replies. It seems that creating a rack solution that could contain my IEM monitor box and loom for cables would be a better option and it could be next to me.
