I love Speedy's playing in all contexts including this one. His volume pedal work and control of the bar are superb and because he's Speedy, he brings that something extra to everything he plays. Great sound on YouTube.

Alan Akaka commented, "I see in the backup band Harry Baty, Sam Koki and Bobby Nichols. Not sure if the musician on the far left is Danny Stewart. All great Hawaiian musicians in Hollywood."

As Andy says, the sound quality is really good. The Hawaiian era was drawing to a close when this was recorded, and we can be forgiven for thinking this sound was how they heard everything, but most of these musicians had lived through several eras with their attendant technological developments. From windup gramophones to hifi and stereo sound. When you listen to someone like Eddie Bush in the 1920s and then on TV in the 1950s, you get the feeling of constant change.
