Am looking for 2 1/8 width roller nut for a SX Lap Steel. String spacing is 3/8 (.375)
Have installed the Certano bender and roller bridge, but the Certano roller nut is too big. Have checked George Boards. Their roller nut is 2.5.
Attached is a picture of the measurements.
Would appreciate any leads, advice\suggestions, or comments.. Thanks in advance.

looking at the angle the 1st and 6th string are going to have to have to get to the machine head post, i dont know if the string is going to work optimum wise in a roller slot or not. a cut into a nut is a different set up with the side pressure against the side of the slot not as critical. the rollers will bind and not be smooth if too much side pressure is placed on them. the pressure needs to be directed downward at the very bottom of the slot from a straight string pull and the roller does not need to rub against the sides.
the SX is a modest priced guitar, but im not sure i would have chosen that platform to invest $ in with roller nut/roller bridge and benders. |

I just measured my Hipshot “Roller Nut for Dobro”, and it’s just a bit smaller than what you’re looking for. 2 inches total, and a bit under 3/8” between strings. (1 and 3/4” from middle first to middle sixth). That’s the only other one that I know about.
Best of luck. _________________ David K |

Thanks for all feedback so far.
At this point in the journey, am thinking of replacing the existing nut with a Delrin nut in lieu of a roller nut. |

I installed a Certano Bender on a 50's Supro lap steel guitar. Still using the stock nut, with a little teflon gun lube spray in the slots, and it returns to pitch just fine. _________________ GFI Expo S-10PE, Sho-Bud 6139, Fender 2x8 Stringmaster, Supro consoles, Dobro. And more. |

For what it’s worth, here are some pictures of the completed project. My luthier, Greg at GuitarX (Facebook) in Douglasville, Georgia, used the Hipshot roller nut; he had to do some meticulous work on it. In addition, when installing the Certano roller bridge and bender, he made a cover plate to hide the old bridge post holes. Would’ve added locking tuners but couldn’t find drop in replacements.

Looks very nice. I've never tried any palm benders, they look like fun
One thing is you could consider, shim the tuners for 1 and 6 further away from peghead to reduce the angle at the rollers (or a lot more wraps around tuning post). _________________ - keyless Sonny Jenkins laps stay in tune forever!; Carter PSG
