Hey guys. I'm new here. Just joined the forum today. I've been dabbling with dobro, and lap steel for about a year now. I've recently been playing with benders on my lap steel. I've been dead set on working my way up to pedal steel for a few months, and am confident that I am close to ready to take that next step. I'm looking for tips on a good starter pedal steel. I have done a bit of research, and I am seriously considering a Zum Encore. I like the price, and have heard good things about it. I'm looking to spend less than 2000 but want something that sounds good and will last me a while. You guys have any other suggestions to check out? I'm broke at the moment so for the time being I'm comparing different guitars and will be looking to purchase something in the next month or so. |

If there's any way you can swing it, I think this student guitar with 3 & 4 would be an excellent start. The price is reasonable and you can work on this for years until you decide you might want to step up to an all pull guitar.
Lots of music to be played on this rig. JMO. |

Tim,
What J. O. said. and the icing on that cake is the made in USA NV 112.
I can't believe somebody hasn't snapped that rig up yet!

Absolutely nothing bad to say about an Encore. I've had my hands on two for some setup & maintenance work and I love them.
If Doug is taking orders (website says Fall 2022 but I have no idea...) and if you need time to raise $$, I'd get on the wait list if I were in your shoes. |
