I have a sweet 8 string on the way, and looking around for string sets, I'm not seeing any.

Are there any available 8 string reso sets available.....or do you order a 6 string set and add singles?

Probably looking to go G6.

Thanks!

Though I don’t see them listed currently.

If they still sell them, they must be out of stock. No mention on the website.

Used to have them. Might be worth calling.

I make up my own with a set of Pearce 3100s and a couple of singles to go in the middle for strings 3 & 4, either .028, .030 or .032

I just got two sets from Beard. They had to be special ordered and took a few month to get here.

Buy bulk strings. If you play enough, you will want to change certain strings frequently. I also found the G string (wound) loses its sizzle pretty quickly.

I'm with Mike - bulk strings. I get mine at juststrings.com for all my non-pedal steels and slide guitars, which I keep in various open tunings - some non-standard, for which reasonably balanced and appropriate tension sets are not available. There are definitely other sources for bulk strings. But I don't know anywhere that is close to competitive either selection-wise or price-wise, and I have had good experience with these. Plain string gauges available in every imaginable gauge from .008" to .026". Wound gauges available in every .002" increment from .018 to .056. Nickel and stainless wraps also available in .058, .060, .068, and .070. So it's definitely possible to do pedal steel sets, even C6 or universal. There is a shipping charge, so I generally buy quite a few when I order, which is not often.

I had a great experience with Stringjoy. I needed a C6 set for a 6 string Dobro and they were really helpful in selecting the correct gauges, and not too pricey.

Gold tone in Florida. Beard has to order them, not in stock.

I have a beard set I’m not using. I made my own for A6. Pm me if you’d like to buy it.
