My wife wants a new kitchen.

I want a new black Emmons Resound (with 8+8!!!)

How do I justify one course or the other? I have to say that her first reaction wasn't encouraging but 'never say die', right?

Serious answers only, please. Smile

Personally, I’d go for the new kitchen. She’ll be much more understanding of your future acquisitions. Wink

you might enjoy your new kitchen....sorry but true.

Unless you can prove you will bring in enough money with the new PSG that would then buy the new kitchen, I believe she might win this one.......

Gentlemen:

Your logic seems inescapable, even if these weren't the answers I was looking for.

Roger, Responses don't favor you very much. O well maybe later or a second job is in order or a secret loan , where there's a will there's a way, maybe.

Since we rent I don't have kitchen worries. My problem is I want a couple new guitars with a Emmons being one.

I'm with the guys. You can't fry an egg on hot licks. Some of the worst squabbles here were when the dishwasher was on the fritz. I have to conceed to the light crust dough girl on occassion.

My wife is Moore likely to buy a guitar than I am. All I hear is DON'T sell that, or --you need that. WE married 22 years ago. I had 1 guitar 1 amp , 22 years later 35 guitars 4 steels and 1 on order, 22 amps and any thing that I think I want. I keep telling her I have enough. Yau'll think I should keep her?

I'd go for the kitchen. None of us really need more gear. A new kitchen can't get stolen, and it won't take up any more space in the house.

On the other hand, the price of a really nice kitchen refurb worth the hassle would probably be more than twice that of a Resound 65... I know what mine cost back in 2006.

My new rule is "one gadget in, at least two or preferrably three out". I've bought four instruments and sold fourteen in the last two years, not really missing any of them. More to come (or go...).

You might could say, "Honey you're VERY Wise, and a new kitchen is what we should do... However, a new Emmon's might also be a good LASTING Investment, so for the good of our family I'm also gonna order a new Emmon's... AND, if I have to sell my old one when the new one gets here to make you happy, I'll do that as well" Just a thought, and YMMV Winking Winking Winking

Well, guys.....

It looks as though the kitchen is a lock. Sad

My wife is a great cook - a chef, almost - but I can't see how a five-figure sum thrown away on cabinetry and upgrading electrics, etc., is going to make things taste any better. Women, though, are funny about these things.

I also have to factor in the reality that Mrs. R. probably won't see any difference between my current black Legrande 111 and a new Resound. And she's all about the look of a guitar - black's her favourite - but, when I tell her that a Resound (8+8 ) will cost four times as much as my Emmons did when I bought it new twenty years ago, I could encounter resistance.

Dennis I don't think so. she grew up in a musical family , all her brothers are accomplished musicians . She loves guitars, OH did I mention she had the whole house re modeled from the kitchen to the basement music ---train room.

Leon, you are the rare lucky one! Some wives are so far the other way that they detest the guitar as a rival for first place in the love chain. Rolling Eyes

I like the sound of that train-room!

Mine are mostly gone now but I did keep my 3rd Rail Brass O-scale B&) EM-1; what a stunning model it is!

Roger, choose the kitchen😀, beautiful model brass locomotive & tender you have there. Believe me, Leon speaks the truth. His house is all guitars, steels & the most elaborate 🚂 layout I’ve ever seen.

Roj, I think you did the right thing. Expediting a new kitchen for Mrs. R is REAL close to the same thing as her expediting your Emmons Resound; I shouldn't be surprised if the latter comes to pass, and perhaps sooner than anyone anticipates! Winking

I know that new Emmons looks so tempting, but you really should get that kitchen. Woman are like birds, their nest must be perfect, trust me.
