I got the chance to hear the Lyle Lovett Large Band the other night in a small venue in Philadelphia, wow, what a sound! All of the musicians were amazing but as a steel player Buck Reid blew me away, he was all over the C 6th. After the show, he was gracious enough to come over and say hi. He said he's working on a new album, can't wait to hear it, I have the last one. Don't miss them if you get a chance. Rick Hearne

Leland Sklar does walk-throughs of the Large Band's venues on his YouTube channel. Buck is usually there on stage when no one else is, tuning his steel or adjusting his gear or something. He's a very dedicated player, one of the best.

Surely must have been a fine experience. A ton of talent in the Large Band. Buck is, of course, over the top. Never get to see or hear enough of him.

I've been a big fan of Lee Sklar since the 70s, maybe longer.
He's an icon and a legend of the bass guitar.

Exactly how I feel. Buck Reid is a stunning player -- the Lovett band is a great showcase for him, but I would like to hear Buck in other settings too (beyond his solo album, "A Work in Progress"... glad to hear he's working on another one).
