I need some help identifying the year of my old push pull, the number stamped on it is 2077 no D anywhere. It is a fat back lacquer body, cut tail with tulip Kluson tuners. I can’t seem to upload pictures, sorry.. any help greatly appreciated..

I can’t understand how to decipher the date on the tone pot, I’m hoping someone with superior knowledge can help..

Ronnie,

Those CTS pot numbers tell you several things. The relevant portion for dating purposes are the four digits right before the "CTS". It appears to say 7842. That indicates this pot was made in the 42nd week of 1978.

If you're interested in what all the other numbers mean, you can check this guide:

Thanks Brian that’s what I thought too from info on the web. I believe it was a replacement because after a bit more research it appears the Guitar was bought new in 1974 from a music store in New York. I’m pretty sure it was Russell Powell that bought it new. And after talking with the Emmons folks and a few others the serial # puts it right around that time..

Oh, interesting. Well that makes my "help" not very helpful. Maybe others more knowledgeable will chime in.
