Help with crackling/cutting out

Posting here ‘cause I’ve got an issue that I don’t think is amp or volume pedal related - but it’s still kind of a mystery to me:

I’m experiencing some crackling sounds and full-on cutting out while playing - it’s only when I’m actively playing the guitar AND moving the volume pedal.

If I move the volume pedal up and down with the amp turned up - no problems.
If I play the guitar with the volume pedal steady - no problems.

I say I don’t think it’s volume pedal related ‘cause I’ve tried two pedals now and had the same issue - but maybe I’ve also got bad luck!

Check your guitar cords, or better yet use some known good cords.
