Howdy everyone,
My recent obsession with these instruments led me to create some playlists on Spotify that I'd like to share. I also invite others to collaborate on playlist building with me if they're so inclined. Send a PM and I can send you the collaborator links.
Links below. I'm also not sure if I have everything 100% because it's based on my tin ears, praguefrank, and other sources.
Non-Pedal Steel Guitar Currently: 554 songs and 27hrs
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0GJ5JpjumVMRMeymTzF6q2?si=5012caf2e9584372
I'm attempting to add as many songs as possible featuring steel without pedals up to Spotify's 10k limit.
Steel Guitar Masters Series Vol. 1 - Noel Boggs Currently: 173 songs and 7 hours
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6nit4P8d40bzX1z6ljKLEo?si=60694aaead5d423c
As many of his solo and session work as possible but it's far from the 2000+ recorded works he's done. I've gained so much of an appreciation for the player, innovator and professional he was.
Steel Guitar Masters Series Vol. 2 - Joaquin Murphey Currently: 59 songs and 2.5 hours
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3wGUd06kzLM7Zk4gXlSlVd?si=e3544296436c4956
I hope it's all Joaquin. Some Noel or Ralph Miele may have slipped in. Either way it's amazing.
Steel Guitar Masters Series Vol. 3 - Bud Isaacs Currently: 23 songs and 1hr
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5MiEK6eHKRokvZTwb730uF?si=85383a7c37494cf3
Unfortunately Bud's amazing solo recordings aren't available in the US Spotify and praguefrank's data on his session work after 1953 seems sparse.
Collaboration, corrections, suggestions for the next volumes, are all welcome! Enjoy! |

That's so great, Brett. Thanks! I was doing a similar thing, but with a lot less knowledge! |
