I know many of us play solos in church. I would like to know how other folks handle their background recordings.
Usually when doing solos in church I use my GB10 through a my 12 channel mixer with line out to chuurch PA. |

I've done no track solo/instrumentals in church, but when using an actual track, I just put it on CD and hand it to the sound guy... all he has to do is hit play... I usually run though it a time or two early so they can get the right volume and then I just mix/balance to that while playing.

| Bill, I have recorded Bass and rythym guitar on a looper pedal , and just ran it through my amp in line with my steel,then XLR from amp to board. It worked okay, but I had to keep the songs under 4 minutes because of the loop,to have a viable ending. Nowadays when I do a solo, its a real solo..nothing else but me, which is terrifying, playing a chorded melody all the way through. I am most comfortable in church with me and the piano playing together, chording behind her with an occasional fill and ending. It helps that the piano player is my wife, so we get plenty of practice together at home! |

I played in a Cowboy Church band for about 8 years (until I moved). Luckily, we had a full band, didn't have to play with tracks. I was always asked to do an instrumental at offering time.
If I were to use tracks, it would be a separate unit to the P.A. board, not through my steel amp. |
