Todd created this guitar for me about five years ago. I’m a fan of the horseshoe and eventually opted for one on this build. I also had him add a pick guard, given my history…The guitar has left my house only a couple of times and is in near mint, if not mint, condition. $1,600 or best offer, plus shipping.

Joaquin is the name Todd Clinesmith gave to this lap steel style (from Todd’s website: “this design is based on Joaquin Murphey's D-8 guitar built by Paul Bigsby in the mid to late 40's.”) I studied with John Ely for a few years, and found that 8 strings were too much for me. John advocated for 7 strings and C13 tuning (low to high: Bb-C-E-G-A-C-E). |
