Can anyone tell me the proper name of the tool for making an off-set bend on a pull rod? And where I can buy one? If I know the proper tool description I would probably get one from Amazon. Thanks in advance. |

Not sure what the builders use but a wire bender from Deluth trading at $6.95 should do. Bends wire up to 3/16 thickness.

Here's a neat little simple tool if you have a bench vice. Somebody else posted this here a few years ago. Only good up to 1/8 in. dia. according to their info though.
They also have an assortment of other benders.
It's also pretty easy to design and build your own simple vice mount tools for bending light wire with a few pieces of steel and some bolts. |

Question for Dale Rottacker -- do you have these and have you used them? I'm intrigued by their simplicity for occasional one-off rods but I'm not confident in how well they might work on 7/64" or even 1/8" rod. Unless you do use them and say it works well for you. |

I do Jon... actually a couple of them. One has the Delron Jaws and I didn't find it as useful as the one with the Metal Jaws. Mitchell Smithy was the one who told me about them, when I re-rodded my first Prestige. They take a bit of getting used to and it helps if you're not dyslexic, but they make bending those stiffer rods fairly easy. It takes very little to overshoot how much though, so be gentle. _________________ Dale Rottacker, Steelinatuneā¢

Really cool tool. But, it will only go up to a 3/32" (.096") rod. If your guitar has rods larger than 3/32", it won't work. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) .
