got an 11 string on the bench, keyless head just about finished but was wondering what are the popular string gauges for this type of guitar.
i need the range so i can cut the string guide leading into the anchor. do not want to cut it to big, no need say for a .070 groove when a common gauge is say 40>50 range.
why the 11 string, well, my father's inventory has the pickups and i do not want to junk them, glutton for punishment i guess. father always said you have to be crazy to build steels.

I don't think there is any "popular" 11 string tuning. I play 12 string and I use both Reeces' C6 and the extended Alkire tuning.

thanks mr. bill
i was thinking the c6th tuning. since i am in cajun country i was thinking the g as it is very popular. the info i have lists several gauges, was just wondering what was popular.
anyway, i went for the middle 60's range. the way it is made, easy to remove the guide and add a larger hole since it is made from a stainless socket head machine screw.
