I'm wondering what's the best setup for taking Zoom lessons........... sound equipment, camera's and connections. The computer camera and microphone don't seem to be enough. Thanks. Paul. |

Paul, I don't teach on Zoom for various reasons, but through Skype. Get a good quality HD webcam, I like many of Logitechs cams, especially 930E. I also like a model by Nexigo, the N940P, which can zoom in and out a little, even comes with a remote control to handle the zooming and other features. Mics on webcams are usually good enough for lessons, and sometimes a built-in laptop mic is good, too. _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

I use an iPad and it works great depending on the connection. _________________ Bob |

Thanks guys, I now have a logictech webcam hooked up to my computer. Thinking of a better microphone setup on my computer which doesn't pickup my amp sound that well. I was thinking of running a mic. into a small mixer that has a usb connection. |

Paul, try using your webcam's mic first, it's usually good enough, no need to spend $ needlessly! Make sure it's selected in Zoom or Skype settings.
Here are some helpful tips for good audio in Zoom meetings:

Bob and John,
Do you use any special lighting on your face, fretboard, background and so on when doing remote lessons? Do you use a sheet or other article to create a solid or pattern background? _________________ Remembering Harold Fogle (1945-1999) Pedal Steel Player

I don't do anything except point the ipad in my general direction. Works fine. _________________ Bob |
