love th song sir, the music is superb and your playing especially, as usually is flawless. n going to be hoenst and say, not a fan of the vocalist, the style seemed like he was trying to be to much bon jovi and it made it sound like a bon jovi karaoke thing. but i loved everything else for sure. |

Carey, that is my V-MUSE lap into a Fulltone Fulldrive, into a Quilter Mach 2.

Thanks for posting the video Terry. I've been gigging on 6 string electric for decades and have in the past tried about every amp (mostly tube amps) and overdrive/distortion pedal you can think of. I have recently added steel guitar. Seems like I am having to start the tone quest all over again. My main 6 string amp is one of the new Fender Deluxe Reverb Tonemasters. No tubes! Pretty happy with it so far and no back aches.
Having trouble finding a good distorted tone on my lap steel though. Have come to the conclusion it's the pickups. Some pickups just don't distort well. I have a Mellbert on order. We'll see how that goes.
A long time ago I learned to listen with my ears and not my eyes. Surprising how hard that is to do. Before you told me that your combination was Quilter and Fulltone I would have thought I was listening to a tube amp! But no matter, great tone is great tone! It reminds my of the lap steel solo on "Runnin On Empty" by David Lindley. Again, keep up the great work! |

Even Lindley used a Roland Jazz Chorus JC-120, a solid state amp, in his collection. There are no rules.
Thanks for the kind words. |

I also think the soapbar pickup in my V-MUSE is important to my sound. It is a custom design made by Brantley Rewinds just for my laps. The VM-P90. Tom is so good. |
