One of the best Chris, I sent John the CD of that record, he didn't have one, it was on Polydor and incorrectly titled 'Hank Picked', John signed my copy as well which I cherish. What a great record through and through!

Really good album, I recall buying it the week it was released - anything to do with the Allman Brothers!

WOW! Great pickin' by all of the players. That had to be fun at the session. Thanks for sharing.

I am not familiar with Dickey but I definitely know who John Hughey is. That was a wonderful recording by everyone.

Been listening to Dickey Betts since the ABB, but I never knew of or heard this. Dammit! Now, I have to find the entire album. Had no idea of his interest of this type of music. Embarassed

Thanks for the heads up Chris.

Jerry, I assume you have the Dickey Betts and Great Southern albums, which I like a lot, the album 'Richard Betts' by Dicky has some of the best steel on it by John Hughey, my Buddy bought it when it first came out in the 70's.

Yes Craig. I do have the Great Southern LPs. I guess I skipped these other recordings somehow.

John Hughey just nails it on that whole album. Bought that back in the mid 70's and it was a huge inspiration to me.

Purchased the LP upon release. Subsequently purchased the 8-track tape (to play in my car), the cassette tape (to play in my truck), and on CD a decade or two later. A timeless classic. Hand Picked is almost as good as it gets.
