If so - I'm curious what brand of string fits into the changer? I can't go higher than a .54 or the winding near the ball end simply won't fit in the changer slot as the slot is too narrow. Hoping someone can point me towards a brand that will fit as a .54 is a bit spongy for my tastes. _________________ https://www.facebook.com/ggefell/ |

The slots in some changer fingers are a little narrow for the size string required. I have fought the 10th string slot on a MSA Classic. And the 11th and 12th string slots on the 2 GFI S12 Universals, Over the last 20 years.
I have found if you grip the the string ball in a pair of pliers and bend till the string and ball look like a (b), This allows it to hook easier into the slot.
Then, With a pair of pliers flatten the windings about 1/2 inch from the ball.
This a picture of the .068 12th U string I removed my last string change.
Where the winding of the wraps goes over the core wire windings makes some lumps that will not go in slot, Unless you flatten them a little.
Good luck on string change and back Happy Steelin bj |
